ECLECTICBODYWORKS

EQUINE SPORTS MASSAGE THERAPY

about the therapist
amy zimbal shaw is a registered massage therapist who started eclecticbodyworks out of a love and passion for everything equestrian. growing up, she always enjoyed spending time with her grandparent's horses on their  farm in zephyr, texas. Amy has trained in both english and western disciplines, and can be found riding at flower mound equestrian center during her free time.

amy graduated from texas woman's university with a bachelor of science degree in psychology and a biology minor. during college, she was a  volunteer for rocky top therapeutic riding center in keller, texas and interned for friends of the family and nelson children's center  in denton, texas.

amy later attended the american institute of allied health for her massage therapy training. during this time, she had the wonderful opportunity to be trained by sherry sorrell who provided sports massage therapy to some of the players from the dallas cowboys. in addition, amy has completed over 200 hours of advanced training in sports and orthopedic massage, manual lymphatic drainage, reflexology, hydrotherapy, hot stone and trigger point.
after  massaging human clients, she decided to redirect her focus by combining her massage business with her love of horses, and providing equine massage services. it was after this decision that amy received her training in equine sports massage therapy, and was certified by equiflex in oklahoma.

the equiflex program is based on the same principles and teachings of nfl sports therapist jack meagher. mr. meagher is credited with the first use of equine sports massage therapy during the 1970's in the united states.  he was the first therapist to apply these techniques with great success on numerous u.s. equestrian olympic team horses, including champion and usea 2003 hall of fame inductee bally cor.
